Competition Entry Form

All competitors who want to enter must register by completing the entry form

COMPETITIONS

The festival will consist of the following competitions to be held at locations and times detailed below:

May 9th @14.30 hrs. – Hotel Conference Room – Solo, Duo and Trio Groups.

May 10th @ 11.00 hrs.  – Bodrum Municipality Heredot Culture Centre: Groups of 4-7 dancers & Groups of 8 or more dancers.

The competitions will start by age category. with the youngest age groups going first and finishing with the older age groups.

All competitors and groups will compete with and provide their own music. Once the competitors have their competition number they need to send their music to the organisation committee by 1st May 2020.

The deadline to enter for the competitions is 01st May 2020. All contestants must compete the Entry Form for Contestants (above) to be entered.

CATEGORIES & AGE GROUPS

The dance contestants can take part in the groups listed below according to the competition rules regarding ages. The chart below details which age group you can compete in according to the date of birth on the contestant’s identity card. Please check these details very carefully.

All registered contestants must abide by the age rules when registering. If the organisation committee determines that any (older) contestant has registered in the wrong age category then the organisation committee will disqualify the contestant and no refunds will be made.

When calculating ages in the specified age groups please consider the following calculations when referring to the ages in the age groups listed below. Example: If a Group of 7 contestants, then two-thirds of the group should be in the same age group. The actual calculation of this number is 4.66 so in this case the number of dancers in the same age group should be 5!

The age groups of the contestants are determined according to their date of birth. All contestants will be required to show their official identity cards or documents which clearly states their date of birth in order to be issued with their competition number.

ADULTS – YOUTH : Born before 10.05.2005 – 14 + years old

JUNIORS   : Born between 10.05.2005 – 10.05.2011 – Between 9-13 years old

KIDS         : Born between 10.05.2011 – 10.05.2014 – Between 5-8 years old

SOLO, DUO & TRI0 Category – AGE GROUPS

Saturday 9th May – 14.30 – Hotel Conference Salon

The Competition and award ceremonies in these categories will be held at the HOTEL CONFERENCE SALON after the lunch break and will begin at 14.30 hrs.

SOLO COMPETITION – ORDER OF PERFORMANCE

This is for individual performances with only one person on stage. Selected music must be a minimum of 1.5 minutes and a maximum of 2 minutes. Contestants can enter this competition more than once on the condition that a difference dance and music are chosen and they meet the age requirements.

DUO COMPETITION – ORDER OF PERFORMANCE

This is for dancers performing in pairs so each performances will consist of 2 people on stage. Selected music must be a minimum of 1.5 minutes and a maximum of 2 minutes.

AGE RULES DUO CONTESTANTS
  • Kids Duo Category – Both contestants must be within the Kids age range
  • Junior Duo Category – At least one of the contestants must be within the Junior age range. The other contestant can only be from the Kids category.
  • Youth Duo Category – At least one of the contestants must be within the Youth age range. The other contestant can only be from the Junior category.
  • Adult Duo Category – At least one of the contestants must be within the Adult age range. The other contestant can only be from the Youth category.
TRIO COMPETITION – ORDER OF PERFORMANCE

This is for dancers performing in a group of 3 so each performances will consist of 3 people on stage. Selected music must be a minimum of 1.5 minutes and a maximum of 2 minutes.

AGE RULES TRIO CONTESTANTS
  • Kids Trio Category – All 3 contestants must be within the Kids age range
  • Junior Trio Category – At least 2 of the contestants must be within the Junior age range. The other contestant can only be from the Kids category.
  • Youth Trio Category – At least 2 of the contestants must be within the Youth age range. The other contestant can only be from the Junior category.
  • Adult Trio Category – At least 2 of the contestants must be within the Adult age range. The other contestant can only be from the Youth category.

GROUP COMPETITIONS – SMALL – LARGE GROUPS (MIN. 4 DANCERS) – CATEGORIES, AGE GROUPS & ORDER OF PERFORMANCE

Sunday 10th May 11.00 – Bodrum Municipality – Heredot Cultural Centre

This is for dancers performing in a group of 4 or more, so each performances will consist of minimum of 4 contestants and a maximum of 25.

SMALL GROUPS COMPETITION – ORDER OF PERFORMANCE

This is for dancers performing in a group of 4 to 7 contestants. Selected music must be a minimum of 1.5 minutes and a maximum of 2.5 minutes.

  • Kids Small Group Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Kids age range and cannot include “Youth” or “Adults”.
  • Junior Small Group Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Junior age range. The other contestants cannot be from “Adult” age category.
  • Youth Small Group Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Youth age range. The other contestants can be from “Adult” or “Junior” categories but cannot be from “Kids” category!
  • Adult Small Group Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Adult age range. The other contestants cannot be from “Kids” or “Junior” age categories!
  • AWARD CEREMONY

AGE RULES SMALL GROUP CONTESTANTS

  • For Groups of 4, at least 3 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 5, at least 4 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 6, at least 4 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 7, at least 5 people should be in the same age category.
GROUP COMPETITIONS – LARGE GROUPS (MIN. 8 DANCERS) – CATEGORIES & AGE GROUPS

This is for dancers performing in a group of 8 or more, so each performances will consist of minimum of 8 contestants and a maximum of 25. Selected music must be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3.5 minutes.

  • Kids Large Group Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Kids age range the other contestants cannot include “Youth” or “Adults”.
  • Junior Large Group Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Junior age range. The other contestants cannot be from “Adult” age category.
  • Youth Large Group Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Youth age range. The other contestants can be from “Adult” or “Junior” categories but cannot be from “Kids” category!
  • Adult Small Large Category – two-thirds of the group must be within the Adult age range. The other contestants can be from “Youth” but cannot be from “Kids” or “Juniour” category!

AWARD CEREMONY

  • AGE RULES LARGE GROUP CONTESTANTS
  • For Groups of 8, at least 6 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 9, at least 6 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 10, at least 7 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 11, at least 8 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 12, at least 8 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 13, at least 9 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 14, at least 10 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 15, at least 10 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 16, at least 11 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 17, at least 12 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 18, at least 12 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 19, at least 13 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 20, at least 14 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 21, at least 14 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 22, at least 15 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 23, at least 16 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 24, at least 16 people should be in the same age category.
  • For Groups of 25, at least 17 people should be in the same age category.

MUSIC

The music to be used in the competition must be submitted to the organisation committee by May 1st2020 by the competitor or instructor. Before the music is sent to the committee, the name of the music will need to be changed to match the “competition” numbers allocated to the contestants. The committee will check the music that has been submitted to ensure the timing of the music meets the specifications. The committee will inform you and give you feedback if any of the music timings are too long or too short.

MUSIC SPECIFICATIONS;

Solo competitions:  a minimum 1.5 minutes and maximum of 2 minutes.

Duo competitions: a minimum 1.5 minutes and maximum of 2 minutes.

Trio competitions: a minimum 1.5 minutes and maximum of 2 minutes.

Mini Group Competitions: a minimum of 1.5 minutes and maximum of 2.5 minutes.

Large Group Competitions: a minimum of 2 minutes and maximum of 3.5 minutes.

COMPETITION NUMBERS (To be worn on costumes)

Competition numbers will be issued at the entrance of the hotel at the Organisers Info Desk upon verification that payment has been made. All contestants must complete and submit the competition application by 1st May. Music should be delivered to the organisation committee by 1st May.

If any contestant is competing in the same category more than once, ie twice, then the committee will issue 2 “competition numbers”.  To allow time for these contestants to change costumes and rest, the “competition numbers” will not be issued consecutively. All “competition numbers” will be issued at the Organisers Info Desk. All competitors will need to produce proof of identify and age according to the age rules detailed. Can we please remind all contestants and especially the group leaders to prepare photocopies of the ID cards in advance.

Each “competition number” will have four digits. The 1st number will indicate which category the contestant will be competing in. The 2nd number indicates the age category and the 3rd & 4th numbers will indicate the order in which the contestants will compete. The schedule of performance for the contestants will be announced the day before the contest.

  • Numbers starting with 1000 are the “competition number” of Solo contestants.
  • Numbers starting with 2000 are the “competition number” of contestants competing in the Duo group.
  • The numbers starting with 3000 are the “competition number” of the contestants competing in the Trio group.
  • The numbers starting with 4000 are the “competition number” of the contestants competing in Mini Groups.
  • The numbers starting with 8000 are the “competition number” of the contestants competing in Large Groups of 8 or more.

Age groups:

The second digit of the “competition number”:

  • 1 is the Kids Group
  • 2 is the Junior Group
  • 3 is the Youth and Adult Group

COMPETITION FEES

  • Solo, Duo & Trio competitions: 50 TL per person
  • Groups of 4 and over: 30 TL per person

Note: The registration fee is for entry into one competition. If the contestant is registered in different competitions or categories then a registration fee for each competition will need to be paid.

All contestants will be given a Certificate of Participation.

Note: The groups that will participate in the competition must pay their registration fee back within 24 hours after the entry to the hotel for the festival and receive the competitor  back numbers.

AWARDS

Each award ceremony will be held on the stage after the completion of each category competition. Example: After the Solo competition has been completed, the award ceremony for the solo category will be held; when the Duo competition has been completed the Duo Category awards will be presented etc..

Solo Competition Award

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to the top 3 contestants in each of the following categories: Kids, Junior, Youth & Adult. All contestants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Duo Competition Awards

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to the top 3 contestants in each of the following categories: Kids, Junior, Youth & Adult. All contestants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Trio Competition Awards

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to the top 3 contestants in each of the following categories: Kids, Junior, Youth & Adult. All contestants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Small Group Competition Awards

Each of the following categories: Kids, Junior, Youth & Adult will receive awards as detailed: The groups finishing in the top 3 will be receive a Trophy and a Certificate will be given to all members of the group and their instructors/teachers. A Certificate of participation will be issued to all competitors.

Large Group Competition Awards

Each of the following categories: Kids, Junior, Youth & Adult will receive awards as detailed: The groups finishing in the top 3 will be receive a Trophy and a Certificate will be given to all members of the group and their instructors/teachers. A Certificate of participation will be issued to all competitors.

COMPETITION RULES

  • The Festival and Organisation Committee will not be held responsible for any injuries or illness that may occur during the competition. No claims for any costs related to health can be claimed from the Organisation committee. We recommend that all contestants have valid health insurance.
  • The Organisation Committee reserve the right to disqualify any contestant for the following reasons: Disrespecting the jury or the committee; disturbing the competition or other dancers by unsporting behaviour, shouting, swearing/insulting, criticizing, throwing anything on the stage etc.
  • No body oil to be used in the contest as this can affect the stage and make it dangerous for other competitors.
  • No fire or dangerous props can be used in the competition.
  • The use of bad or sexual words, swearing etc. in the provided music will result in minus points
  • No accessories should be thrown into the audience. This may result in minus points.
  • Any accessories that are dropped or fall off during the competition may result in minus points.
  • Any music that does not fall under the competition regulation for timing will result in a negative score
  • Any contestant that has been disqualified will not be able to participate in the competition next year.

COMPETITION POINTS SCORING

We recommend that you carefully examine the points scoring criteria before you prepare your choreography to get the best score in the competition. Please note that each category is evaluated with different criteria.

SOLO, DUO, TRIO, MINI GROUP AND LARGE GROUP COMPETITIONS

Maximum: 100 points (3 criteria are assessed)

Technique (30 points): Body Use. How the body uses its movement capacity is examined.

Composition (30 points): Design of choreography elements such as movement, musicality, use of sound and stage etc.

Creativity (40 points): Innovation and individual attitude revealed by choreographer.
